Man Dies Following Crash with School Bus

A man was killed and a child injured Friday in a north side wreck involving a school bus and a car.

According to officials with the Indianapolis Police Department, the crash occurred shortly before 7: a.m. in the 3600 block of Keystone Avenue. The driver of the car, 22 year-old Keon Wills, lost control of his vehicle and was broadsided by an Indianapolis Public Schools bus. Indianapolis police Lt. Jeff Duhamell said Wills “lost control, careened off the sidewalk and proceeded to go across the roadway into the northbound lane, directly in front of the path of the school bus.”

Wills was transported to a nearby hospital in grave condition. He sustained severe head and chest injuries in the collision. Wills was later pronounced dead.

One child aboard the school bus suffered minor injuries in the crash and was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

“There was no indication the bus was driving over the speed limit,” Duhamell said. “The bus driver did an exceptional job keeping control of the bus.”

Indianapolis Bus Crash

On Dec. 7, the students on the Lawrence Township bus had quite a hangup before school.

It happened when the bus crashed into a power line. The power line then fell on top of the bus. Luckily no one was hurt, but the kids had to remain on the on the bus until the power company turned off the power.

The students finally made it off the bus around 8:15 a.m.

Pike Township Bus Accident Sends Four Children to Hospital

A bus accident in Pike Township resulted in four children being sent to the hospital. According to initial reports, the injuries were not serious and the students lives are not in jeopardy. The driver of the vehicle which crashed into the bus was also taken to the hospital,. Methodist Hospital received all five injured.

According to reports, over sixty children were on the bus at the time of the accident.

Truck Rams School Bus, Flees Scene

An Indianapolis school bus was involved in a hit-and-run incident recently when a pickup truck in the next lane swerved over suddenly, ramming the bus and tossing around the five children riding in it.

According to the bus driver, the truck made no indication that it was attempting to change lanes when it clipped the rear driver’s side tires of the bus, causing it to swerve dangerously. The truck sped off after the incident.

None of the children was seriously injured, but they were taken to Methodist Hospital and treated for pain.
